Student Financial Aid Overview
Student financial aid is available on a first-come first-serve basis to all students who apply and qualify on the basis of established need. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the one application that students can use to apply for all federal, state and SMTC student assistance. This includes automatic consideration for all grants, scholarships, Stafford Loans (bank loans) and on-campus student employment. FAFSA's can be obtained through the SMTC Financial Aid Office, high school guidance offices and many public libraries, or online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
The FAFSA priority filing dates are as follows:
Entering students are reminded to file their FAFSA early and not to wait until they are formally accepted to an SMTC academic program. Students with questions concerning any aspect of student financial assistance are strongly encouraged to contact the SMTC Student Financial Aid Office at (207) 767-9518 or e-mail us at email@example.com. SMTC's mailing address is: 2 Fort Road, South Portland, ME 04106
Check with the SMTC Office of Student Financial Aid for specific FAFSA dates.
During the 1999-2000 academic year, SMTC students received over $4.2 million dollars through federal, state, college, and private funding sources. Students with questions concerning any aspect of student financial assistance, are strongly encouraged to contact the SMTC Student Financial Aid Office at (207) 767-9518.
The Registrar's Office will aid in answering questions
concerning VA benefits, or referrals will be made to the Veteran's Administration
in Togus, ME or Buffalo, NY. VA forms are available at the Registrar's
Office. Once completed, they are submitted to the Veteran's Administration
by a Certifying Official. All students that are receiving veteran's
benefits, are required to stop by the Registrar's Office and sign in
at the beginning of each month to verify attendance.
