Funding Sources

The Workforce Development division at SMCC will assist businesses in Cumberland and Sagadahoc counties in securing funding support for their workplace training needs. We work very closely with two funding sources to help your business maintain a competitive edge in today's changing and dynamic market: The Maine Quality Centers and the Governor's Training Initiative.

Coordinated by Maine's Technical Colleges, the Quality Centers program offers customized education and training for new or expanding businesses -- at no cost to the business or the trainees.

By matching Maine people with Maine jobs, the Quality Centers Program provides a valuable service not only to employers -- by reducing their costs of expansion -- but also to unemployed and underemployed Maine people -- by offering them free, specialized training which may lead to quality, full-time jobs with growing Maine companies.
Maine Quality Center's education and training programs are coordinated and delivered regionally by Maine's seven Technical Colleges.

Governor's Training Initiative

This is a partnership between the Maine Department of Labor and Department of Economic and Community Development to assist employers in training incumbent workers. The Workforce Development Division at SMCC works closely with these two entities to assist in providing customized training as well as partnering with national training vendors to delivery quality training locally.
