Had he lived, he would have celebrated his 74th birthday this month.

Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life to the resolution of social conflicts through non-violent means. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, King studied at Morehouse College and earned his PhD. From Boston University in 1955. After graduation he spent the remainder of his brief life in the South as a pastor, author and civil rights leader.
King is most remembered for the speech he delivered at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963 at the height of the civil rights movement.
