The Campus Safety and Security Office of Southern Maine Community College is a student staffed organization dedicated to
serving and protecting the campus.
In addition to enforcement of campus regulations, the Campus Safety and
Security Department provides other services to students, such as: ID
permits, vehicle assistance, personal escorts, and activation of SMCC EMS response services.
Our offices are located in the Campus Center (next to the Student
Billing Office) and in the Surfsite Residence Hall. Our
Campus Center office is open
Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 9:00 pm. Our office in Surfsite is open from
9:00 pm - 11:00 pm, Monday - Friday and 8:00 am - 12:00 midnight
on Saturday & Sunday.
In accordance with the Federal Student Right-To-Know and Campus Security Act
(Cleary Act - S. 580), each institution of higher education is required
to annually prepare a Uniform Campus Crime Report (UCCR). The
report must indicate the crime statistics on the property(ies) of the
institution for the preceding calendar year. The statistical crime categories reported
in the UCCR are: homicide, rape, robbery, hate crimes, aggravated assault,
arson, motor vehicle theft,
and arrests on campus for liquor law violations, drug abuse violations,
and weapons possessions.
